About this Photograph

Location:  Muir Beach, California

Muir Beach sits along the far north side of the San Francisco Bay, not far from Point Reyes.  It is an easy trip from Benicia, California where I live, so it has become one of the more ‘regular’ trips I take to just relax.  This trip was a little less relaxing, as we took our ‘rescue dog‘, Gracie, along with us.  I am not very well known for having soft spots for pets, but this one has surprisingly taught me a few things.

Gracie is a rescue dog that was most likely abused when she was young.  She is a little waif of a dog, weighing in at 7 pounds soaking wet.  But as a new member of our family, Gracie had to go through her learning, or as we found out, our learning.

When we scolded her the first time it was heartbreaking, she cowered and literally scooted the five feet from where she was, up to me, without ever lifting her belly of the ground.  I was heartbroken.  Quite surprisingly.

Gracie is recovering well and she brings a lot of joy to our family every day; and I, the one that is always a little aloof with the pets, have a little friend that brings me joy every day. This photo seems to capture the emotion better than my words do. Footsteps and the scampering paws of a little pup seems to say it all.

Read more Gracie in the featured photograph blog, what Gracie has taught me, and as always, a little about the workflow.

Latest News for 2/19/12

The last month has been busy one as I finished a trip to Yosemite and finished working with Agora Gallery on the images that they will be representing me with for the next year.  Check out my page at Art-Mine.com.  These images are special limited editions that will be used in a gallery showing sometime later this year.  I am in the process of reworking my shopping cart to allow me to better differentiate the limited edition sales from the regular print sales.

The website just crossed its 3,000th visitor generating just over 14,000 individual page views.  Though that is nothing in the scheme of the world-wide-web, I am pleased that there are about 20 or so visitors each day from 103 different countries across the globe.

This month's new images include some from my trip to Yosemite, some new images of 'beach art', and more architecture from New York City.   Check out "Walking with Gracie", the featured image and most recent blog entry.
